As one of the best maintained castles in South Tyrol, the Churburg castle is located in Schluderns and was build in 1250 by the prince bishop of Chur. Already in 1297 it passed into the possession of the Lords of Matsch and after their disappearance and for 500 years now, the Counts Trapp own the castle.
The armory is world-famous, it is the largest private collection of weapons and armour in Europe. In the castle you’ll find a dream of an arcade passage with beautiful wall-paintings and you’ll be wrapped by the flair of a long bygone era.

As the smallest town in South Tyrol, Glurns enchants its visitors with a charming, medieval flair, completely preserved ring walls and three picturesque gate towers. Built in the late 12th century, the monastery lies above Burgeis / Mals, in the Venosta Valley.
The changing exhibition in the museum offers visitiors an insight into everyday life in a monastery and a film about the famous Crypt of Marienberg is shown. The frescoes are one of the greatest certificates of Romanesque art in the Alps. To protect the frescoes, the crypt itself is only accessible once a week, except the celebration of Vespers takes place on a work day.
The Stelvio Pass at 2757m is the highest pass in Italy and the second highest asphalted pass in the Alps.
The 48 sharp bends leading from the South Tyrolean side to the pass are legendary. No matter if cyclists, motorcyclists, convertible or tractor drivers, all love this road. The Stelvio Pass is well known as a summer skiing area, but also the most beautiful hike with an amazing view starts directly from the pass.
The most famous events around the Stelvio Pass are the Stelvio Bike Day, the Stelvio Marathon, the three-country alpine cycling marathon and the vintage tractor tour. At the Giro d’Italia, it’s the queen stage. It’s really worth seeing!
The symbol of Venosta Valley is at the same time magical and fascinating, but the story behind the well-known postcard motif is far less idyllic: The Romanesque church from the 14th century is dumb witness to an irresponsible lake congestion shortly after the end of the Second World War, in which hundreds of families from the villages Graun and Reschen lost their existence.
Today the former church tower is a public attraction. The picturesque landscape, the flowers and the cool climate attract many tourists in summer. Not to forget the water sports! The lake is a dream for kite and windsurfers. The almost daily optimal wind conditions make the lake interesting for sailors as well. In winter ice-skating on the lake is offered.
Meran is always worth a visit. The beautiful old town, the arcades with its bars, restaurants, small shops and boutiques, the promenade along the river Passer attract many visitors. Well-known is the Friday-market near the train station. A huge number of different offers and products promise fun while strolling. From regional specialties to shoes, from traditional clothing to household items, from accessories to leather goods – here you can bargain and trade to your heart’s content.
The botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are highly recommended. You’ll find plants from all over the world in over 80 garden landscapes. Over the year there are thousands of flowers and blossoms to admire, walking trough the garden is a blissful experience.
Various leisure attractions make your visit to the gardens an adventure. The swaying suspension bridge, the walkable beehive, the dragonfly clock, the grotto with multimedia show, the summit rock with delayed echo, the greenhouse with terrarium, many different animals and the Touriseum provide variety.
